SEIEOU SUSSO
Seikou Susso was born in 1964 in Sukuta Nanie in The Gambia. He is from a family of griots known as Jalibas, who tell the History of the Mandingo Ancestry through Music poetry which they express with one of the most authentic African string instrument called The Kora, sometimes known as the African Harp.
Seikou started learning to play the Kora at the tender age of six, under the expert guidanee of his father, Jaliba Denbo Susso
He had to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors. His mother is also from a Griot family the "Kuyatehs", Her name is Hagar Jal-fi11 Kuyateh. Seikou has a brother and sister. Debar Susso, is a well known singer in West Africa.
Seikou would accompany his father on all his outings, so his first encounter with the Kora was to sit beside his father when he was playing the Kora and tap on the calabash (gourd), which makes up the back body of the instrument. He accompany his father to perform in many places, such as tourist Industry hotels, gatherings of elders and community events, like marriages, naming ceremonies etc.
Seiko represented his country at festivals and to promote tourism for his country in Finland Helsinki, Vienna. Austria
Has have worked with other Musicians.
Seikou finds this experience very stimulating, as he now plays sometimes with other instruments like piano, violins, harp, cello and keyboard. He teaches workshops and performances all over UK and Abroad.

Carnival Messiah, a theatrical/music/ dance/ Performance, Yorkshire Playhouse, He was then invited as a Cultural Ambassador to perform at the International Carnival Conference and the World Beat Music Festival in Trinidad and Tobago.
