Hohodza emerged in 1992 as an outfit of traditional dancers who dug through the dustbins of history to come up with age-old dance routines, which have captivated those who have had a chance to attend their shows. Their first album as a recording band, " Mucizimu hautengwi" was released in 1995 and did exceptionally well. Since then the band h;,s released ten more albums and already working. on the eleventh one. Through the years, Hohodza has matured to become real expects in the music ~ Industry locally. Having blended traditional instruments like the Mbira (hand piano), Marimba, percussion and skin on wood drums with modern instruments successfully, producing some very exquisite sounds which gives a new perspective to world music. In Africa, Hohodza has risen through the ranks to be one of the best bands not to mention stage performers. Hohodza's aim is to entertain and to spread the Zimbabwean traditional art of Music and Dance the ~vor1d over. They have toured some part- of Europe and the reception was incredible. During their tour they performed in Belgium, Holland, England, Wales and South Africa. While on tour, the largest audience They had was about ten thousand people in England although they have similar and more audience at home. They have shared the stage with some international Artists like Kanda Bongo man, Yondo Sister, Kofi Olominde all base in France, and they have also performed with Clarence Carter from America, were they had more than fifteen thousand people. Every year they perform at a festival in South Africa (University of~ Venda). With each and every performance, they managed to keep their fans on their toes and begging for more. When you experience Hohodza, it's a new feeling and rhythm you will never forget. They are available… For workshops, festivals, corporate events, parties, street shows etc.
