The Kingdom Choir are a collection of outstanding singers drawn from various churches in the London area. Karen Gibson leads them, an experienced singer and director whose skills have made this choir one of the most sought after for radio and television work. They have appeared on major religious radio and television shows such as Songs of Praise, First Light and the Gospel Train. Venues range from the Royal Albert Hall and St Paul's Cathedral to Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and even the Millennium Dome. They have performed besides the likes of Elton John, Luther Vandross, the Spice Girls, Michael Ball, Leslie Garrett, Alexander O'Neal, not to mention Gospel Greats such as Andrae Crouch, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Helen Baylor, Alvin Slaughter and Jessy Dixon. Charities with which they have been involved include Amnesty International, Bishop Desmond Tutu's PEN for political prisoners, Jubilee 2000, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and The Churches Commission for Racial Justice. They have performed for dignitaries such as Bishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela, performing alongside Joan Armatrading for the latter, singing a tribute song especially penned for him by Joan. The choir have recently won the Church Minstrels for the Year 2000, an annual competition hosted by BBC Radio 2. They have been featured on a feature film (Tube Tales), a TV series (Maisie Raine), an advert (for Orange), on radio, on CD recordings and in places as far afield as Ireland, Hungary and Israel.
