Dromo is a word meaning 'grace' from the Ga language of southern Ghana. The group was formed in 1999 by artistic director Odartey Lamptey, ' a master musician for Accra, Ghana who has been resident in England since 1988. Aims and Objectives The main aim of the group is to help people understand, appreciate and enjoy traditional African music, dance and story-telling through workshops and performance. What Dromo can offer you? v Music workshops v Dance Workshops Combined Music/ Dance workshops v African Story-telling/Games ž Lecture-demonstration/ discussion on African Culture Workshops cater to the specific needs and level of the group. Music includes traditional songs, clapping and drumming techniques and rhythms. Dance workshops include warm-up and graded movements building towards a mini-performance in one traditional style. At all levels the importance of meaning and of relationships between music and dance are stressed, within an atmosphere of participation, understanding, enjoyment and creativity.

Percussionist Duncan have been playing hand drums since his youth days in Ethiopia, Performing solo at the beach parties, Asia clubs and other Australian clubs. He has also performed at festivals including Mardi Gras 4 Sleaze Ball and Mobile Home, the Lizard Lounge, Slip Inn (Sydney), Globe (Sydney and Perth) and Brisbane's Viva.
