COCO KANYINDA & SOUKOUS KUMBELE
Coco Kanyinda was trained as a kit drummer at the age of ten and went on to become a pupil of zaire's number one percussionist of the time, the great master Kadima.
With the use of hand-me-down instruments from zaire's legendary singer, Franco, the band Super Fiesta led by Pepe Ndome and the now deceased Pompom Kuela invited Coco Kanyinda to join them.
Coco's path led him to perform with many renowned bands, in 1982 Coco joined the Real sounds of Africa with whom he came to the UK.
With Soukous Koumbele, Coco returns to the old style Soukous that are reflecting the excellent selection of songs on the bands album Dunia, where Coco not only plays percussion but reveals an impressive melodious voice that is sweet like honey.
