BLACK SPEAR Performing Arts is an eight male acapella music and dance ensemble, which was established in 1987 at Lobengula, a township of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. All members of the group are devoted Christians, a fact which is reflected in many of their songs. The ensemble also sings and performs traditional arrangements to a very high professional standard. The group have toured throughout. Southern Africa, also UK. With the advent of their first album, Nant' Izulu, The ensemble's repertoire presents Imbube/lsicathamiya, a form of southern African music associated with Zulu-speaking migrants who, out of economic necessity, were obliged to leave their rural homes all over southern Africa to work in the towns and mines. The roots of this type of music date back to the last century.
